Easter 2008 - Earlier than Most, But with the Same Great Value
Easter is unique this year. Easter is always the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Vernal Equinox (which is March 20). This dating of Easter is based on the lunar calendar that Hebrew people used to identify passover, which is why it moves around on our Roman calendar.
Here's the interesting info. This year is the earliest Easter any of us will ever see the rest of our lives! And only the most elderly of our population have ever seen it this early (95 years old or above!). And none of us have ever, or will ever, see it a day earlier! Here's the facts:
- The next time Easter will be this early (March 23) will be the year 2228 (220 years from now). The last time it was this early was 1913 (so if you're 95 or older, you are the only ones that were around for that!).
- The next time it will be a day earlier, March 22, will be in the year 2285 (277 years from now). The last time it was on March 22 was 1818. So, no one alive today has or will ever see it any earlier than this year!

Ben Stein's Movie: Expelled
Ben Stein has put together a documentary on the science of Intelligent Design and the price that scientists pay for exploring it. Somehow, if a scientist advocates that our universe and those of us in it were created by anything other than mere chance, they are ostracized and abused. The smug self-righteousness of those who purport to be open-minded is disturbing.
When did science and religion split? Was Darwin the beginning of it or was it already divided? I haven't researched it but it sounds like a worthy project. I'm sure someone has. Perhaps we can come up with a link that points to it.
Check out the trailer for Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed, it looks intriguing.
Thanks, Tony.

Wisdom of a 12-Year-Old
Pretty sharp for a little guy. A remarkable phone call from a 12-yr old boy to Houston
radio station KSBJ FM 89.3. We'd all do well to remember this.

What's "The Golden Compass" All About?
In case you are thinking about taking the kids to see "The Golden Compass" this Christmas season, just be aware of what it is really about. According to Snopes, the books on which it is based have a very strong, very real anti-God message. The book's author, Philip Pullman, stated in a 2003 interview that "My books are about killing God."

What's God's Name?
In another stunning attempt at appeasement in the Netherlands, a Roman Catholic bishop has suggested that everyone call God "Allah." What is he thinking? Was he thinking?
First of all, two of the three major religions refer to God as "God." So, by a majority vote, we win.
Second, we were here first.
Third, Americans are notoriously lazy. "God" has only one syllable while "Allah" has two - double the work - don't see that happening.
Fourth, We'd have to change all our money - thought the ACLU might like that since they've been trying to get "God" off our money for quite a while.
Fifth, I'm sure Osama is over there clapping his hands and pointing at the computer screen saying, "Oh yeah! That's what I'm talking about. Man, they just give us that one and we'll call off this whole terrorism thing."
I guess the only good thing I can see out of this whole idea is that maybe PG-13 movies would stop using G-D as a substitue for the F-bomb. We know they wouldn't substitute an "A-D," now would they?
